⚡ Express Creation

Express Creation is a shortcut to add a Piece + Product to the catalog quickly, without going through the full Design → Piece → Variant → Product flow.

Express Creation adds items to the catalog — it does not create an order directly. If what you want is to add a custom line to an existing order, do it from the order detail using the "+ Custom" button.

When to use Express Creation?

  • When you receive an order for something new and want to register it in the catalog quickly.
  • When you have the STL and the piece data on hand and want it documented.
  • When you want to calculate the sale price on the spot using the built-in margin calculator.

The Express form

Basic information

  • Name (required).
  • Short description and long description (optional).

Files

  • 3D file (STL/OBJ/3MF): a single design file (drag-and-drop or click to open the file explorer).
  • Photos: several images of the piece (drag-and-drop or click).

Material and technique

  • Material type: Filament or Resin.
  • Finish: Unprocessed / Processed / Painted.
  • Weight (in grams) and Print time (in hours).
  • Dimensions: X, Y and Z in mm.

Color

  • Color picker (one or several). There is also a "Multicolor" option.

Price and margin

This is the most useful part of Express — the automatic calculator:

FieldHow it works
Cost/kgThe price per kilo of the material. It fills in on its own: if you assign an inventory color, it takes its real cost per kilo (the most expensive one when you use several); if the color is manual (not from inventory), it uses the workshop default for that material type (Settings → Costs → Default values; the price is per type, because PLA and TPU don't cost the same). You can edit it by hand for this piece. It works exactly like it does on the Piece record.
MaterialCalculated automatically: weight (g) × Cost/kg. Read-only.
PrintingCalculated automatically: print time × your workshop's hourly cost (Settings → Costs → Hourly cost). Read-only; hover over it to see the rate it uses.
FinishEditable: what the post-processing costs you.
CostMaterial + printing + finish (or editable if you prefer to enter it by hand).
Margin %Editable. It is colored according to the thresholds configured in Settings → Costs → Default values (red / orange / green).
Sale priceCalculated from the cost and the margin, or editable manually.

The Cost you see in this form is the same one that is saved on the Piece: material + printing + finish. If you typed the Cost by hand, that value is respected. Extra costs (packaging, hardware…) aren't in Express: if the piece has any, add them afterwards on its record and review the Product's margin.

What exactly does it create?

When you save, the system automatically creates:

  1. A Design with the STL.
  2. A Piece linked to the design, with the dimensions, the material, the color and the cost.
  3. A Product with the name and the photos.
  4. A Variant of the product with the configured sale price.

It then redirects you to the detail of the newly created Product, where you can add more information or create more variants.
