โ๏ธ Cloud printers
The cloud route connects BolloPrint with the manufacturer's cloud, not with the printer directly. Today only Bambu Lab has a cloud we can use this way.
It's in Settings โ Printers, Bambu Cloud tab, and it's the quickest way to get started: there's nothing to install.
What you need
- A Bambu Lab account with email and password (the same one you use in the app or the slicer).
- Your printers linked to that account and online.
- Access to that account's email: Bambu sends a verification code.
Before you start: two things that cause a lot of trouble
โ ๏ธ Only email and password work
If you sign in to Bambu with Google, Apple or Facebook, that way of signing in doesn't work here: BolloPrint needs the account's email and password. If you've never set a password, create one first on the Bambu Lab website and use that.
โ ๏ธ If it's the first time you've used that password, sign in to the Bambu website first
When a freshly created password has never been used, the account may still have its email verification pending. Bambu doesn't say so: it answers "incorrect password" and leaves you going round in circles looking for an error that doesn't exist.
Sign in once on the Bambu Lab website with that email and password, complete whatever it asks for and come back here. If this has happened to you, this is exactly it.
Connecting the account
- Go to Settings โ Printers and open the Bambu Cloud tab.
- Type the email and the password of your Bambu Lab account and click Connect with BambuLab.
- Bambu sends you a 6-digit code by email (sender
noreply@bambulab.com; check your spam too). - Type the code on that same screen and click Verify and connect.
โ ๏ธ Don't switch tabs before verifying
The password stays in your browser only until you finish verifying. If you leave the screen, you'll have to start again. The code expires in about 5 minutes; if it does, use Resend code.
Once connected, the printers on that account appear on their own in the Printers tab. There's no need to register them one by one.
What you'll see
- Whether the printer is switched on and connected.
- What it's printing, the percentage, the time it has been printing and the time it has left.
- Nozzle, bed and chamber temperatures (depending on the model).
- The materials loaded, tray by tray, if you have an AMS.
- The machine's issues (the HMS warnings), with their severity and their link to the Bambu wiki.
- The sliced-file image of the job in progress.
- The full history: every print, with its duration and its outcome.
And what you won't see or be able to do
This is the important part of this route, and it's worth being clear about before you pick it:
| Read-only | You can't pause, resume or cancel from BolloPrint. It's a limitation of Bambu's own firmware, which ignores commands that don't come from its own programs. |
| No camera | The camera image doesn't come through the cloud. The job's sliced-file image does, which isn't the same thing. |
| It depends on the internet twice over | It needs internet in your workshop and the Bambu cloud to be up. If either fails, the printer shows as disconnected even though it's printing perfectly. |
| The session has to be renewed now and then | The session with Bambu expires after a while. When it does, you'll see the notice on this same screen and all you have to do is connect the account again. |
๐ก If you want a camera and control
Connect those machines through the local agent as well: they gain the camera. Commands (pause, resume, cancel) don't get through by that route either, because it's Bambu's firmware that rejects them. The printer is still just one, with its history, and takes up a single slot in your plan. It's covered in Local network printers.
If you can't get connected
| What you see | What it usually is |
|---|---|
| "Incorrect password" and you're sure it's the right one | The account has its email pending verification. Sign in once on the Bambu website with those credentials and come back. |
| "Incorrect password" and you sign in to Bambu with Google or Apple | That route doesn't work here. Create a password on the Bambu website and use that. |
| The code doesn't arrive | Check your spam. Make sure the email is the one on the Bambu account, not another of yours. Use Resend code. |
| It won't accept the code | It will have expired (it lasts about 5 minutes). Ask for another. Paste it whole: if you copy it from the email with spaces or dashes, they're cleaned up automatically. |
Unlinking the account
On the same screen, Unlink. The printers that arrived only through that account switch to No connection: they stay in the list with their number, their name and their whole history, and they come back to life as soon as you connect them again, by whichever route.
