🖼️ Designs
The Designs gallery is the starting point of the technical catalog. Each Design groups a model's 3D files (STL, OBJ, 3MF…) with its name, notes, tags and photos. The print data (dimensions, weight and time) doesn't go here but on each Piece. From a Design you create Pieces with specific materials and colors.
The gallery and its statistics
In the section header you'll see three counters:

| Incomplete | Designs that are missing something: no associated Pieces, no files or no photos. Hovering over this number shows the details of what's missing. |
View modes and filters
- Gallery view (grid) or list view: toggle in the top-right corner.
- Search: filters by design name.
- Filter by tags: multiple-tag selection to view only the designs in a category.
- Incomplete filter: shows All designs, Incomplete (any reason) or only those with No pieces, No files or No photos.
- Page size: 20, 50 or 100 designs per load. "Load more" button at the bottom.
A Design card
Each card shows:
- Thumbnail of the design (or a placeholder if there's no image).
- Design name.
- Number of Pieces associated with it.
- Warning badge if it's incomplete.
A Design's detail view
When you click on a design you'll see:
- The design information: Design Name, Internal Notes (Private), tags and photos.
- The design's Files (downloadable).
- The list of Pieces associated with that design, with their materials, colors and costs.
- From here you can create new Pieces for that design.
Moving a design file to a piece
On the design you keep the "source" files: the STL, the project's 3MF, whatever gets shared. But sometimes you end up uploading a sliced file here, and that isn't where it belongs — a sliced file describes one specific way of printing, with its own material and time, so it belongs to a piece.
For that, every file in the list has a three-dot menu with the Assign to a piece option. Opening it lists the pieces of that design and you pick one.
It's only active for sliced files (.gcode.3mf, .gcode, .bgcode, .goo); an STL can't be assigned because it carries neither weight nor time.
When you choose a piece you're always asked to confirm (Move the file to the piece?) before anything is moved. Pieces that already have a sliced file are marked with an icon, and if you choose one of those the notice tells you that the previous file will be deleted. That way you never replace anything by accident.
The move is immediate. There's no need to click Save: as soon as you confirm, the file moves and stops being on the design. Straight afterwards, the window opens for importing the weight, the time and the materials into that piece.
Creating a new Design
- Click "New Design" in the gallery.
- Type the Design Name and, if you want, the Internal Notes (Private) and the tags.
- Upload the files in Upload designs:
.stl,.obj,.3mfand.zipare accepted, and you can upload several at once. Also add the design's photos. - Save — and from the design's detail view, create its Pieces. The technical data (dimensions, weight and print time) is defined on each Piece, not on the Design.
Who can manage Designs?
Workers, Admins and Owners can create and edit. Read-only users can only view.
